We are excited to announce that applications for Expa Labs 2017 are now open. Applications will be accepted through March 31, 2017, with final interviews taking place in May. The six-month program, where companies join us in our offices and work alongside us while building their product(s), will officially start in June.
This year, we are making a few changes to Expa Labs – all aimed at providing early stage entrepreneurs with the tools necessary to build their companies, access to the resources of Expa, and the flexibility and funding that works best for them. Among the changes this year:
- We are offering two tiers of funding: $500,000 for a 20% equity stake, along with a new option of $250,000 for a 10% equity stake
- New location: Teams can now work in our Vancouver, British Columbia offices, along with our main offices in San Francisco and New York
- Distributed option: We understand innovation doesn’t happen in just two or three cities. So, starting this year, we are allowing select teams to work from wherever they are. These teams still get the full resources of Expa, and will travel to one of our offices periodically throughout the duration of the program
- All this comes in addition to other benefits Expa Labs offers
Our goal with Expa Labs is to help companies build and ship ideas more efficiently. We do this by working with fewer companies, taking a hands-on approach, and avoiding the trappings of other event-driven programs. Support and expertise from Expa doesn’t end after the session ends. Labs alumni join our extended family of entrepreneurs and advisors receiving, among other things, continued guidance on product and business direction and help fundraising.
