We’re excited to announce the launch of Expa Accelerator, our new pre-seed program created to support startups during the earliest stages of company building.
Since launching our first cohort in 2016, we’ve stood by the belief that talented founders with a bold vision, strong determination, and the right combination of funding and operational support could go on to create category-defining businesses. Expa Accelerator was created to elevate the next generation of entrepreneurs by providing a program that’s designed to give startups the flexibility, funding, and guidance they’ll need to scale in an increasingly competitive landscape.
Companies accepted into Expa Accelerator will receive $250,000 or $400,000 in funding and will gain access to Expa’s extensive network of founders, advisors, and operators. Like building a company, there is no set curriculum at Expa accelerator. Founders aren’t beholden to a schedule or mandatory attendance and the entire program is customized around the needs of the startup. Founders get access to a dedicated team that’s focused on assisting with product development, customer discovery, and business operations. They’ll also be able to leverage Expa’s decades of experience in fundraising, go-to-market, branding, and hiring through 1:1 meetings with our network of advisors and partners. Startups all get access to hundreds of thousands in credits and discounts from the world’s best cloud, legal, sales, and HR providers.
The program was created with flexibility in mind and is open to global startups on a rolling basis. This round of Expa Accelerator is fully remote and program support lasts between six to twelve months, depending on the startup’s needs. When founders are ready to move beyond Accelerator, they'll gain access to Expa's network of international investors to supercharge their next phase of growth. Past Accelerator companies have been funded by Google Ventures, Sequoia, NEA, and others. This new shift to a virtual, flexible program reaffirms our commitment to meeting founders where they are. We understand innovation is borderless and we want to provide opportunities to founders everywhere.
In the past, we've been honored to back incredibly passionate pre-seed founders like Wayne from Statespace, Nan, Ken, Henry, and Weixi from Sleeper, and Nick and Coby from Radar as they’ve gone on to create breakout companies. Last year, Statespace, a metaverse for e-sports training, closed an impressive $29M Series B led by Khosla Ventures. Radar, the world’s leading geofencing platform, raised a $20M Series B from Accel, and Sleeper, a social fantasy league platform, raised $20M from a16z and Kevin Durant.
